We Were Once Broke That Jackie Appiah And I Walked From Osu To Dzorwulu – Majid Michel Narrates

Veteran Ghanaian actor cum man of God, Majid Michel has recounted a moment in his life when he and colleague Jackie Appiah were so broke that they walked from Osu all the way to Dzorwulu just to have a place to lay their heads.

Speaking as one of the guests on UTV’s United Showbiz Show, hosted by Nana Ama Mcbrown, Majid Michel was speaking about some of the challenges they faced as actors and the extent to which they had to make some sacrifices to be able to survive.

Majid Michel added that Jackie Appiah was so thin and looked impoverished when they started of as hustlers.

” We’ve suffered before and it’s not a joke..Jackie was so thin that she was the same size as my arm….during our hustling days, we were done shooting a movie at OSU but we didn’t have money to go back home so we walked all the way from Osu to Dzorwulu..by the time we got to our destination, we were really drained of energy”. Majid narrated.

Majid touched on the challenges they faced in the movie Industry by asking the Government to help the industry grow. According to Majid Michel, it’s about time the Government priotize the Entertainment industry because it is one of the ways Ghanaian culture is being displayed to the world.

Jackie Appiah on the other hand called for unity in the industry. She also charged the youth looking up to them to not be in a hurry to make it within the shortest period of time because it’s not as easy as they think.

“We need foreign investors to invest in our movie Industry else we will not move forward like our Nigerian counterparts. We need them to help us get more cinemas to show our movies to the world”. Jackie reiterated.
