If there’s any good thing 2020 did for Ghana, it’s the way Hip-Hop became extremely vibrant. Personally, I’d like to give credit to the Kumasi Drill guys. The drill music genre has gone through the roof! And you’d notice that most of the songs in this list are actually Drill songs from both Kumasi rappers and our Accra rappers.

    Attaa Adwoa – Bosom P-Yung
It wouldn’t be fair to exclude this trap song. If anything, Ataa Adwoa should have given us a heads up that this will be the year people are going to embrace different genres.

    Akatafuor – Kawabanga

The song that turned everyone’s attention to Kumerica. Kawabanga’s Akatafuor. It was like the key that started the first wave of Kumasi Drill going viral and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

    Sore – Yaw Tog

I still remember when this song was released. It was like the second wave of the Kumasi Drill movement and it makes sense because these guys…these guys…greatness all the way and next year is going to be better!

Ekorso – Kofi Jamar, Yaw Tog & Ypee

One of the best Kumasi drill songs but then again…which drill song from Kumasi doesn’t sound good? Kofi Jamar did something on this and y’all can clearly see it’s our December jam

Otan Hunu – Dead Peepol & Rich Kent

Such a delightful disrespectful song! I was not surprised at all when I found out that these guys are also from Kumasi. Kumasi Drill…it’s here to stay.

La Hustle Remix – Medikal ft Criss Waddle, Joey B

Medikal is on a roll this year and La Hustle is definitely one of his best drops this year. I don’t know what has been fuelling him but I hope it keeps the fire in him burning all through next year too!

    Stop It – Medikal

If we were ranking, this would have been number one because… MDK!!! It’s the way he switches his voices mid-flow that gets me every time! Read about the different versions of Medikal

On The Streets – Kweku Smoke, Kwesi Arthur

Kweku Smoke is an incredible rapper but I have mad feelings for this song mostly because everything is just perfect: the lyrics, the video, Kwesi Arthur’s feature…everything is the right fit.

Akobam – Joey B, Kofi Mole, Medikal

Joey B killed the hook, his witty verse was everything and the features were perfect because who else can match up to his style than Kofi Mole and Medikal?

    Kweku Flick – Money

Forget the haters saying he sounds like Kwesi Arthur. He can’t help if his voice is similar to the singer/rapper right? Personally, I’d like to see him blow really bad because this song, is a good one.

    Sub Zero – Sarkodie

It’s the drama around the release of this song that makes it exciting to listen to. Yes, the Asem vs Sarkodie beef happened this year…shocking isn’t it?

    Argument Done – Eno Barony

Another diss song that hits hard! Eno can arguably stand toe to toe with some of your favourite rappers and it’s not even a joke!
