Yvonne Nelson, an actress, believes that the government should postpone the introduction of the Electronic Transactions Levy (E-levy).

According to her, the general public is dissatisfied with the tax and does not want it to be implemented.

In an interview with Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz on Thursday, she said that “the e-Levy is a bad concept, and Ghanaians do not support it, so why don’t we listen to them? People in Ghana are dissatisfied with the situation; why don’t we take their opinions into consideration? It’s truly that easy.”

She went on to explain that since people are already struggling economically, the charge would simply exacerbate their predicament.

“…a disproportionate number of invoices are being paid. Since times are tough right now with all of the additional costs, I don’t believe the E-Levy is a great idea unless the money is put to good use,” she remarked.
