Leader of Common Sense Family, Avraham Ben Moshe, has claimed that most Ghanaians are still living in poverty because of the notion of religion.
According to him, religion has fostered the attitude of not striving for worldly goods in this world among Christians ergo they would rather prefer to suffer on earth and enjoy in paradise but that should not be the case.
He said that, Christians have now become comfortable being impoverished because of the thought of having a better destination than earth when you die.
In an interview with Rev. Nyansa Boakwa on Happy 98.9FM’s NsemPii, Avraham Ben Moshe shared, “They’ve been made to understand that it is useless working and making money to enjoy in the world because someday, it will be destroyed and they will die leaving everything they were working so hard for so, they should rather focus on making it to heaven where they will be eternally rewarded”.
He continued ‘this type of thinking is also obvious in the sort of roads we construct’.
“We create our roadways as the world will be ending in 3 days and that we are anticipating the second coming of Christ so they may travel with him to enjoy in paradise as they’ve been told” he added.
Avraham underlined that, this mentality is making most Christians comfortable living with poverty, adding that ‘until it is altered, we will continue being poor as a country’.
“The whites keep progressing while we keep retrogressing. Until when shall we continue to live like this? They keep becoming inventive daily while we’re stationary waiting for the return of Christ. We need to modify our mindset” he suggested.
