Kofi Kinaata

Multiple award winning artiste, Kofi Kinaata has revealed that he used to be Asa Khalifa’s shoe shine boy years ago.

He made this wild revelation when he was interviewed on one of Takoradi’s most preferred radio station, Beach 105.5 FM. A lot was said in the interview but one thing that left us in a state of shock was him working as a shoe shine boy for his then mentor, Old Soldier, now known as Asa Khalifa

Not shading Asa Khalifa, Kofi used that moment to inspire the young ones (Upcoming artiste) to stay humble, go the extra mile and learn from their leaders. This humility must have contributed to Kofi’s success today.

He noted that he met Asa Khalifa during his “underground” days when he was scouting studios in Takoradi. He noted that he had a healthy relationship with him and practically offered to help him with his activities which included polishing his shoes and carrying his bags to the stage.

Quote:

“The start of everything never comes easy, I use to visit Old Solder now known as Asa Khalifa in Accra when I was still underground, he goes with me to his programs, I sometimes carry his bags to various shows.

I was cleaning his shoes even before he leaves the hotel to perform. It helped me because people even recognized me early when I started my own projects too.”
