Bishop Daniel Obinim, the chief pastor of the International God’s Way Church, was fined by the Akropong Magistrate Court on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, for deploying strobe lights and sirens in an unauthorized manner.

The man of God and his driver, Eric Kofi Agyeman, were both fined GH1,200 after they were caught on video driving a Toyota Landcruiser equipped with strobe lights and a siren in violation of Road Traffic Regulations 74 (1) of Road Traffic Regulation 2012 LI 2180, according to the Ghana Statistical Service.

According to a statement posted on the Ghana Police Service’s Facebook page, “the attention of the Police has been drawn to a video in which a Toyota Landcruiser with registration number GR 5150 – 22 was captured fitted with strobe lights and siren in contravention of road traffic regulations 74 (1) of Road Traffic Regulation 2012 LI 2180,” according to the statement.

“After reviewing the camera evidence, police conducted an investigation that resulted in the arrest of the driver, Eric Kofi Agyeman, as well as the vehicle’s owner, Bishop Daniel Obinim.”

The use of sirens is governed by legislation.

First and foremost, we have “the official government vehicle used by the Head of State for official functions.”

The second type is a “police vehicle,” and the third category is a “motor vehicle that is employed as an ambulance by a hospital or clinic,” according to the definition.

The fourth category is “a motor vehicle that is employed by other recognized government security services,” and the fifth category is “a bullion vehicle that has been registered with the appropriate licensing body.”.
